This is the first place we've lived in with real hardwood floors throughout. Generally, i love them but my entry way [which is just a corner of the living room] is taking a beating this year. I usually use blue dawn & vinegar on them and once a month wash with Murphy's oil, but i couldn't stand it so i attacked them with vegetable oil to shine the worst spots up and help my obsessiveness about them not being shiny settle.
We do need to get a few door mats, including a big rubber black one with a lip to hold all the water and salt grossness.
Do you do anything different in the winter for your floors?

My laminate floors get super gross with all the salt and snow. Doesn't help the kids don't properly clean their boots before entering. I just mop, but any other ideas would be gladly accepted.

i scrubbed the shit out of them with blue dawn, vinegar and super hot water & then oiled them with vegetable oil since the Murphy's oil wasn't working & they look awesome. i did that last weekend and all i had to do this weekend was mop with vinegar and blue dawn again.
